Superior Habit 1 – Gratitude

From my experience, inferior habits have a way of making superior habits next to impossible to achieve without correcting them.

For example, on the topic of weight loss. You simply can’t become lighter without controlling your diet. Controlling your diet requires planning skills such that you know precisely what you’ll be eating the current day, maybe even the next 2-3 days up to a week or more out.

Without planning skills, it’s next to impossible to form good habits around eating. It’s way to easy to grab a bite to eat at a restaurant. Eating meals out is not a great way to become lighter.

So, for the next 30 days or so, I have an intention on exploring inferior vs superior habits. Of course, I’ll be using my personal life as an example.

Currently, I am struggling with my weight and finances. I am 5’7″ 255 lbs. Fat. My bank account looks pretty pathetic. Like I have less than $20 to my name right now and I need to make until my next paycheck on Wednesday kind of pathetic. Luckily, my bills are paid for, but I don’t have to much food in the house and I need gas money to make it to work. The classic broke scenario.

Just a metric of where I am right now in life. Is it fun? No. However, I am grateful that I have a home, that I have a car, that I have a job, that I have a blog, that I am able to do so many of the things that I want to do in life.

So, let’s agree. Gratitude is Superior Habit #1.

Without gratitude, without a positive mental attitude, I would simply just toss in the towel. It’s so overwhelming to be obese, in massive debt, and widowed all at the same time.

However, I am not down and out. I am actually happy, sometimes even joyous! I am able to pursue music right now. I am able to help people with small businesses with their computing needs. I am able to raise my son to be a great human being. I have much going for me. I am just down temporarily. This too shall pass.

If you can relate to my current situation, just know that you too can overcome it. We will be taking this journey together in life.

Never give up and keep kicking ass!

All the best,

Geoff
