Here I am, today, with a whopping $3.40 in my bank account, credit cards maxed out, overweight, balding, and 47 years old…
Not the prettiest of pictures, but I am working to change it all around.
I have made investments in myself and I have been working to get a business off the ground for a long time now. I know what not to do, but it seems that all this trial and error has gotten me into the mess that I am in right now.
Maybe you are reading this right now and thinking to yourself, yeah, that’s me as well. If so, then I only ask one thing from you, your attention. I am going to be writing this blog as my journey back into a prosperous situation. I am in a situation right now where I simply have to ask for help, but I am not going to let all the help go to waste.
My plan is simple: pass on all the things that I am learning right now to help out the next person.
I have heard it said many times that success leaves clues. My hope is to become more successful so that, in turn, I can help out the next person.
Why do I think I have failed lately? Well, it’s a combination of bad breaks and bad habits that have led me down the road to this lowly state. I could get into listing them out one by one, but then you’ll break out the worlds smallest fiddle and start playing me a tune.
We all have hardships. This blog and website is designed to help me and you develop the mindset to overcome the obstacle of hardships.
So, it begins on a Wednesday afternoon in June of 2024… let’s get started!
I have chosen to start with a book named Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez as my struggles with finances are one area of my life that has been a constant.
So, for the rest of the month, I will be blogging about my journey through this material.
One last thought, as I have been studying personal development for the last 10+ years, I have seen a constant theme: successful people have some sort of meditation routine. I learned this a while back from listening to some Tim Ferris podcasts.
Tim talked about his experiences with Transcendental Meditation (TM). I learned the technique back in August of 2016… a while back. I haven’t been the best practitioner, but it has served me well over the years.
In addition to blogging, I intend to meditate on a regular basis. TM is simply mantra based meditation, done 20 minutes twice daily. Preferably, in the morning upon waking and in the afternoon before your evening meal. That’s it.
Thank you so much for reading this far! I appreciate your gift of attention. I’ll be back tomorrow with more thoughts on how to get out of this personal mire that I am in right now.
All the best,
Geoff
